The 2018 MultiGP Drone Racing Championship and 2019 DRL Swatch Tryouts eSports Tournament will be held together in Las Vegas, Nevada over the weekend of February  7-10, 2019. The competitions merge real-life drone racing with an eSport drone racing tournament. For the first time ever, the winner of the MultiGP Drone Racing Championship will be offered a contract for the upcoming 2019 DRL season, airing on ESPN.

MultiGP Champion will be offered a DRL Pilot Contract

For the first time ever the MultiGP Champion will be offered a pilot position in the 2019 DRL season. Now any MultiGP pilot has the true opportunity to work their way up the drone racing ranks and get invited to The Drone Racing League and their show airing on ESPN.

MultiGP Pilots at the Championship will participate in the 2019 Swatch DRL Tryouts

Every pilot invited to the 2018 MultiGP Drone Racing Championship will be able to participate in the 2019 Swatch DRL Tryouts. The winner of the 2019 Swatch DRL Tryouts will receive a $75,000 pilot contract for the 2019 DRL season. The 2nd and 3rd place winners will either receive contracts to race in the 2019 DRL Season, or, should DRL decide not to award one or both of the 2nd or 3rd places with standard DRL contracts, the player (or players) will receive a cash prize of $15,000, as well as a DRL Racer 4. MUST BE 18 TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE. PLEASE READ THE FULL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE SWATCH DRL TRYOUTS AS DEFINED BY THE DRONE RACING LEAGUE. MULTIGP HAS NO CONTROL OVER THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE SWATCH DRL TRYOUTS TOURNAMENT.

Race Format:

Two Identical Tracks This year we are setting up two tracks in order to ensure our pilots get practice time. With two tracks we expect to have little to no delays (weather withstanding) and maximum pilot throughput. Once we enter the championship rounds, all pilots will race on the main track. Next 57  We will also hold a competition for the “next 57” on the list, including elimination brackets and podium prizes.

Progression

151 entrants total → Fast 57 Defending Champion → automatically advanced (1) → Fast 57 Finalists →  automatically advanced (36) → Fast 57 Contenders + The List + Wildcards → 3 round race, best 2/3 rounds: Top (20) advance → Fast 57 Fast 57 → Final 16 The Fast 57 participate in a 3 round qualification on site to determine top 16 that advance to double elimination brackets. Ranked in order of best single round. Final 16 → Champion Double elimination brackets are held until a new champion is crowned. First to X laps. Next 57 → Next 57 bracket of 16 → Next 57 podium

Additional Details And Participating Pilot Requirements:

Ground Stations: We will provide ground stations, so you need to be ready to plug and play with your goggles. Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Membership:  We will be requiring a valid current AMA membership for all pilots who wish to fly at any of our organized public racing events. Register HERE. 40 Channel vTX/Antennas:  We require 40 channel compliant vTX’s for our races. You must have 25mw and/or 200mw capabilities. Please come prepared to change your vTX and/or the channel/band and/or the power of your vTX as needed for each race.  We also recommend having both RHCP & LHCP Antenna.
