2020 MultiGP Virtual Open

August 9-13 brings to life the MultiGP Virtual Open!
MultiGP is proud to announce the world’s largest sim event to date, the MultiGP Virtual Open, powered by VelociDrone.
Starting Sunday, August 9 and running through Thursday, August 13, the MultiGP Virtual Open will feature six core classes for competition: Pro, Sport, Rookie, Mega, Tiny Whoop and Team. In addition to the six core classes and in the spirit of the MultiGP International Open, there will also be a chapter organizer race and an over-40 race.
With over $4,000 in prizes already lined up from our amazing sponsors plus random drawings, Hydra gamification and other giveaways, there is sure to be plenty of fun to go around!
While we are aware that this event doesn’t make up for missing IO this summer, current 2021 IO ticket holders will be able to participate in the MultiGP Virtual Open for free, while non-IO ticket holders will be subject to a nominal fee.
DISCORD / VELOCIDRONE LOBBY / HEATSHEET / TRACK / Leaderboard Information will be sent to the email attached to your MultiGP Profile, sent via text message if your profile includes your cell phone, and in DISCORD (once it goes live Thursday, August 6th) and pilots are connected.
Note: you only require 1 ticket which will get you into all of the races you are eligible for!

TEAM RACING on the Team BlackSheep Team Racing Track
- Utilizing the VelociDrone relay format, teams of 3 pilots will compete head-to-head enduro-style to be the first team to complete 18 laps. Teams will compete in a swiss-tournament style bracket where each team will compete against all of the teams of similar score, similar to a round-robin from 12pm EDT – 6pm EDT Sunday afternoon across multiple simultaneous lobbies, and the top-8 teams will advance to the Finals for a swiss-tournament-style bracket in head-to-head battles to 30 laps!

CHAPTER ORGANIZER RACE on the Horizon Hobby/Spektrum/E-flite Sport Class Track
- Back by popular demand from the 2018 and 2019 International Open’s; MultiGP is set to host the 2020 Chapter Organizer Race at this year’s MGP Virtual Open! To be eligible, pilots must be listed as an owner or manager of a MultiGP Chapter as of Sunday, August 9th, 2020. Qualifying will be traditional “leaderboard-bash” style, with the Top-16 Pilots advancing to the Finals for a Super-Charged “Chase-the-Ace” Double-Elimination Bracket with each grouping of 4 pilots racing repeatedly until someone wins twice from the preliminary round through the final! (a next-16 bracket for bragging rights will be held “off-stream” if there are over 32 eligible pilots).

- Oh Jeez… it’s the OG’s! (Original Gangsters, for the OG’s…) When will this become a Seasonal Event??? A huge favorite is back, with the Over 40 Race in the MultiGP Virtual Open. Qualifying will be traditional “leaderboard-bash” style, with the Top-16 Pilots advancing to the Finals for a Super-Charged “Chase-the-Ace” Double-Elimination Bracket with each grouping of 4 pilots racing repeatedly until someone wins twice from the preliminary round through the final! (a next-16 bracket for bragging rights will be held “off-stream” if there are over 32 eligible pilots).
NOTE: To participate, pilot must have reached the age of 40 by August 1st, 2020. Podium earners will be verified!

At the end of qualifying, the field of eligible pilots will be split into 1/3’s. The top 1/3 will be deemed “Pro”, the next 1/3 will be deemed “Sport” and the next 1/3 after “Sport” will be deemed “Rookie”.
